In this Production, I played Evelyn/Queen.
Truth; from a liars lips is an allegorical tale of what does it mean for a person to come to know God, 'too late'. It is the story of a woman systematically lied to and led astray so much so that when God arrives, she does not recognise him, nor does she believe in the truth he promises her. It begs the question, who is at fault, a mortal for doubting or the divine for their failure to be present?
These theological questions are conveyed through the backdrop of a ubiquitous royal court at war with their neighbours to the west. Its story follows a naive young queen attempting to navigate matters on politics, ethics and love, she is taught to be performatively deceptive and callous in order to survive all three. However, upon losing the war and coming face to face with the enemy, she is forced to decide what she stands for and how willing she is to relinquish control.
